Silva’s Simple Shish Barak

A little bit about this recipe…..

Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins | Serves: 2 | Cost: £ 3

Silva Says “This dish is quick and easy. May sound weird, however, whoever tries it, they like it a lot! This is for 2, they just need to double up for 4 etc….”

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince (we used venison mince as we have loads of it)
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1tsp black pepper & salt
  • 250g fusilli pasta
  • 250g Greek yogurt
  • Sumac spice (optional)
  • 1 handful of pine nuts (optional but recommended)

Method

  1. Mash up the garlic and mix it with the yogurt. Add some salt and a little water to take away the thickness of the yogurt.
  2. Chop the onion and fry in oil until soft and then add the mince and the salt and pepper. Fry together until the mince is cooked to your liking
  3. If using, fry the pine nuts in a little butter until golden brown
  4. While this is all going on, Cook the pasta in salted boiling water
  5. Drain the pasta and put some on a plate. Then add the mince on top of that and put the yogurt mixture on top of that. Finish it all off with the pine nuts and a dusting of the sumac (if using)
